Membership Guidelines and Application Requirements
Homeschool Eligibility – Student must complete 50% of his/her studies at home under the supervision of the parent. Co-ops, group classes, community college courses, or even public school classes are acceptable as long as the 50% rule is followed. Students enrolled full time in public school programs, charter school programs, full-time college programs, or other programs where more than 50% of the school time is spent in the supervision of a school setting are not eligible for ESA membership.
Attend at least 5 meetings per year
Work together as a team to achieve goals
Actively participate in ESA service projects
Maintain high scholastic and social standards
Actively participate in the functions of the meetings
Communicate with and get to know fellow members
Individually fulfill accepted duties and responsibilities

- Applications may be submitted as early as the end of the spring semester of the student’s 6th grade year through October of his/her 12th grade year, for membership during 7th – 12th grades.
- Applicant must have at least 3.5 grade point average on a 4-point scale.
- Applicant must submit a short statement about why he/she would like to be a member of Eta Sigma Alpha.
- Applicant must complete and submit an application form.
- Applicant must be a competitive athlete at Capital Gymnastics National Training Center.
- Applicant must provide proof of test scores in the 90th %ile on a nationally normed test within the last 12 months.
- The test score must come from one test. Section scores from different tests may not be combined to achieve the required test score for membership. *With the continuing technology changes, online testing is currently being offered more frequently in lieu of hard copy testing. Online testing may be used if given at a testing center or at a private tester's facility. Parents must not have access to the student, computer, or test materials while the test is being administered. Students must not have access to other electronic devices which may connect to the internet, email or texting during testing.
If a parent is helping with the test administration, tests must be administered in a group setting. If a group setting is not possible, a non-family member may administer the test in a one-on-one setting, as long as the parent does not have access to the test.
